This project aims to acquire various substation parameters like current, voltage, temperature, power factor, etc., remotely via GSM communication Thus, the remote operator can analyze these parameter values and take a corresponding control action. A user can remotely operate the substation equipment like circuit breakers, isolators, relays, buzzer alarms, and so on. Also, there are those African elite who voice their disgust with Madonsela’s report because she is about to kill the geese that lays their golden egg. Meaning, they might be out of the loop in looting the present public treasures and coffers that they are now enjoying immensely. Mass communication is now a much more egalitarian process, in which the masses can now communicate to the masses (Fonio et al., 2007). The one- too-many dynamic at the core of the meaning of â€˜mass communication’ persists here â€” there simply are many, many more instances of it. This proliferation of the one-to-many capacity represents the communication dynamic that was largely absent from previous incarnations of our media system, in which the capacity to mass communicate was confined to a select few. Description: There is a long history of algorithmic development for solving inferential and estimation problems that play a central role in a variety of learning, sensing, and processing systems, including medical imaging scanners, numerous machine learning algorithms, and compressive sensing, to name just a few. Until recently, most algorithms for solving inferential and estimation problems have iteratively applied static models derived from physics or intuition. In this course, we will explore a new approach that is based on learningâ€ various elements of the problem including i) stepsizes and parameters of iterative algorithms, ii) regularizers, and iii) inverse functions. For example, we will explore a new approach for solving inverse problems that is based on transforming an iterative, physics-based algorithm into a deep network whose parameters can be learned from training data. For a range of different inverse problems, deep networks have been shown to offer faster convergence to a better quality solution. Specific topics to be discussed include: Ill-posed inverse problems, iterative optimization, deep learning, neural networks, learning regularizers. This is a reading course,â€ meaning that students will read and present classic and recent papers from the technical literature to the rest of the class in a lively debate format. Discussions will aim at identifying common themes and important trends in the field. Students will also get hands on experience with optimization problems and deep learning software through a group project. Repeatable for Credit.
This perspective on the media audience was the subject of substantial debate and discussion at the time (e.g., Livant, 1979; Murdock, 1978; Smythe, 1978). In the years since, however, this perspective has received relatively little attention in communications scholarship (Artz, 2008; for exceptions, see Andrejevic, 2002; Cohen, 2008; Shimpach, 2005). However, just as contemporary developments in the media environment have invited a reconsideration of the concept of mass communication, so too do they invite reconsideration of this corollary notion of the work of the mass audience. The 16th of February 2005 was the dawn of our struggle. On that day the Kennedy Road committee had a very successful meeting with the chair of the housing portfolio of the executive committee of the municipality, the director of housing and the ward councillor.
